Impact Of Entertainment To The Atmosphere Environmental Sciences Essay Free Essays
Entertainment has been an of import component in this universe. Peoples seek all sort of amusement such as athleticss and music to pass their clip either entirely or with household and friends. Some people may be willing to travel through a great length, spend monolithic sum of money or even digest some physical challenges every bit long as they get the amusement from the activities that they loved. We will write a custom essay sample on Impact Of Entertainment To The Atmosphere Environmental Sciences Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now However, some people might non recognize that some of their activities might be harmful to the ambiance, which in the long-run will finally impact themselves and their households. A individual or an organisation might non recognize how they are damaging the ambiance because largely their activities does non demo any immediate seeable impact, but scientific discipline has shown us how a simple action that seems so harmless might lend to a annihilating impact to the ambiance. One illustration of a popular amusement presents is the music festivals. Music doubtless is one of the biggest beginnings of amusement and is enjoyed by people irrespective of age, profession or cultural difference. Music festivals are the topographic point that could garner 1000s of music lovers to portion their love and compulsions towards music. Festivals such as the Woodstock Festival ( 1969 ) in United States and Glastonbury Festival in United Kingdom can pull more than 100,000 people at a clip. In Australia, some festivals such as the Big Day Out and Soundwave Festival has been organized in about every province of the state and becomes one-year tradition among the music lovers. These are one of the biggest amusement events in the state but without deep consideration to the environment, they can be one of the major grounds of atmospheric pollution. Despite many positive parts of the music festival, there are besides the parts where music festival can be harmful to the environment. Music festivals use immense sum of energy which may comes from non-sustainable beginnings. Two major beginnings of electricity during music festivals came from fuel-burning generators or the electricity grid, in which in Australia they largely came from the combustion of coal ( Solar Point, n.d. ) . These power beginnings release immense sum of C dioxide ( CO2 ) and air pollutants which might lend to the long-run impact to the ambiance such as the planetary heating and acerb rain. Besides that, diesel-powered generators normally used in festivals might besides supply immediate wellness fright as they may let go of really little but risky solid particulate affair which could transport harmful chemicals to peopleis lungs while they breathe. It might non be a common calamity but it is better to fix for the worst and seek to extinguish air pollutants and inordinate nursery gasses from the ambiance. Alternatively, music festivals might besides hold high C footmark that came indirectly from the events. For case, the crowd came to music festival from all across the province and release immense sums of nursery gasses to the ambiance by going in their autos, coachs or any other agencies of transit that require combustion of fossil fuel. This will be worst if the events cause monolithic traffic jams as it will impact even those who are non traveling to the festivals and more fuel burning will takes topographic point on the route. On the other manus, non everyone in the crowd during the event will utilize the proper manner of disposing or recycling their waste, which means more pollutants will be provided to the environment. Furthermore, the corporal energy from the life rhythm of the phases, equipments, vehicles and other stuffs used during the festival might besides add to the C footmark of the event. All these beginnings of pollutants and nursery gasses will so impact the ambiance and lead to lay waste toing environmental jobs. It will be absurd to propose that music festivals should be banned to protect the environment. A more effectual manner to manage this job is by retracing the event to be more environmentally friendly and to cut down the C footmark of the event to the lower limit. The most critical measure towards this solution must get down from the eventis direction squad. The organiser for such event must alter their system and include environmental concern in their policy. Each event must hold a designated environmental coordinator who will be responsible to the degree of environmental sustainability of the event. The coordinator must supply some sustainable guidelines and ensures that the processs are implemented in every facet. In add-on, the attendants of the event should be offered the option to countervail their C footmark in the attempt to cut down nursery consequence. In Queensland, Splendour in the Grass Festival offers Carbon Offset Ticket which will countervail the buyeris travel emanati on for around 350km ( Splendour in the Grass, 2010 ) . Redesigning the whole power supply system to be more environmentally friendly can hold a important consequence to the sustainability of the music festival. Organizers should do certain that their phase uses efficient power supply and utilize energy salvaging equipment. Precious energy demands to be conserved as more electricity generated will do more harmful substances to be released to the ambiance. However, a more reasonable manner of significantly cut downing the emanation is by taking the right beginning for the electricity. Presently, most of the festivals in Australia or any other state in the universe run by trusting on fossil fuels, which burning is a major menace to the ambiance. Therefore, if we want to forestall the inordinate emanation of C dioxide, sulfur dioxide and azotic oxide to the ambiance, so bring forthing electricity from harmless resources should be the precedence. In Australia, there are several companies that have developed the safe engineering and made them portable and simple to be used. Some practical options that may be a good replacing for the dodo fuel based electricity are biodiesel generator and solar photovoltaic ( PV ) system. Unlike petrofuel generator, biodiesel generator used Diesel made from vegetable oils or carnal fats. Biodiesel is a type of renewable energy and is presently emerging as one of the most dependable options to fossil fuel. One advantage of this renewable fuel is that C dioxide will be used during the production of the biodiesel, which is from the photosynthesis of the works. However, although the C ratio of biodiesel is significantly lower than the normal Diesel, the burning of biodiesel besides releases nitrogen oxides every bit good as little sum of sulfur dioxides and methane. Azotic oxide ( NOx ) is the inevitable consequence of any burning procedure, in which the high temperature at the furnaces or engines will change over N from the ambiance to azotic oxide ( Boyle, 2004 ) . Therefore, it might be a more simple solution, but biodiesel generators might non be the smartest pick for power supply. A better pick for power supply could be the solar PV system. Australia is one of the states that receive sufficient sum of sunshine ( Solar Point, n.d. ) so there will be no job of limited resource. Solar PV does non necessitate any burning and is a really clean renewable energy. In add-on, solar faculties do non hold any moving parts which mean it is safe to run and will non necessitate frequent care. PV system can be build at the festivalis site as a base entirely system or grid-connected system. A grid connected system can let the excess power to be fed back to the grid and can utilize some energy from the grid in instance of power deficit. However, it might non hold the portability and flexibleness that the base entirely system will hold. In Australia, there are tonss of companies that specialize in PV panels and plentifulness of picks are available in the market. The lone job will be that the capital cost of the system will be rather high but on the contrary, the running cost wi ll be really low as it does non necessitate intensive care, have long lifetime and it can be recycled. The best portion of utilizing solar PV system is the ifueli is clean, safe and free. One simple but interesting suggestion to better the sustainability of music festival is to revise the catering and menu choice of the events. It might non look as a really notable thought but making so might besides cut down the impact of music festival to the ambiance. Festivals irrespective of their continuances or sizes normally present caterer or peddler who provide or sell nutrients and drinks during the event. Foods and drinks are the biggest beginning of rubbish as can be seen in every festival site after everyone has left the locale. Therefore, it might be a good thought to inquire the caterer, peddler or any parties who are responsible for the nutrient to cut down or wholly extinguish any nutrient or drinks that come in non-biodegradable or non-recyclable wrapper if possible. In add-on, they should besides be reminded to pull off their H2O and energy use expeditiously and cut down their waste. Unnecessary energy use is non merely uneconomical, but some electrical contraption s might besides lend to atmospheric pollution. For case, CFC ( CFC ) from icebox is a immense menace to the ambiance as it is the major cause of stratospheric ozone depletion. Therefore, it will be a great thought to inquire the caterer to hold their ain environmental policy in order to better the sustainability of the event. Besides concentrating on the manner to cut down the emanation of nursery gasses and other atmospheric pollutants by music festivals, organisers should besides take the chance to utilize the events as a medium to advance environmental concerns among the populace. Organizers should show that their events are back uping the attempt to protect the ambiance and involved in the battle to conserve the environment. It will be better if the event will merely accept sponsorship from organisations that besides support the environmental cause and non peculiarly involved in any major environmental job. During the event, environmental messages should besides be displayed or announced several times to stress the importance of a sustainable hereafter. In add-on, well-known eco-friendly sets and instrumentalists should besides be invited to execute to demo that everyone has the duty to protect the planet. Internationally celebrated sets such as Radiohead ( United Kingdom ) and Pearl Jam ( United Stat es ) have publically shown their concern to the environment and these function theoretical accounts have the ability to present the message successfully to the crowd. Another of import component that besides needs to be introduced in a music festival is a sustainability audit. It is really of import to reexamine every facet of the festival and happen a manner to better the event in the hereafter. The event can be assessed by internal member of the festival or with the aid of professional judge. The audit should measure the direct and indirect emanations of nursery gasses, energy efficiency for all electrical devices and systems, physical impact of the event to the environment and the effectivity of the eventis environmental policy. The informations collected could be really utile in bettering the sustainability of the event and can besides be a guideline for any other related event in the hereafter. There might be some other enterprises that could be put into pattern in the attempt to alter music festival to be a greenish event. These attempts will non hold any major impact on the enjoyment and exhilaration that are seek on the event because the satisfaction of the attendants will besides be a precedence. In fact, an environmentally friendly music festival could perchance pull even more support from the music lovers as more people in the universe has started to care for the environment and opt for more green activities. We can see in every province in Australia people have shown their involvement for more sustainable hereafter and the communities took assorted attempts to better the vicinities. In the sustainable music festival, everyone can bask the great music without worrying about how they may harm the ambiance. The Earth is traveling to be a more beautiful planet if we can let go of the love of music into the atmosphere alternatively of the soiled burning fume of the dodo f uel. Relationship Between Social Policy And Welfare Social Work Essay Essay Example
Relationship Between Social Policy And Welfare Social Work Essay Essay Social policy may be described in two ways. Chiefly, societal policy is seen to hold a direct impact on persons and groups of people. Second, Social policy is an academic topic to be researched. Social Policy may be defined as the development and implementing steps to battle societal jobs in society, and to the academic survey of these steps and their broader societal context ( Alcock, Erskine, and May, 2002:240 ) . Baldock, Manning, and Bickerstaff ( 2007: twenty-one. ) describe a social policy as the provinces deliberate engagement to redistribute resources amongst its citizens so as to accomplish a public assistance nonsubjective . Social policies affect a broad scope of people, whether it is at an single degree or respects to communities. Harmonizing to Spicker ( 2008:1 ) societal policies have to concentrate on several issues including lodging, wellness, instruction, societal security and employment. Social public assistance refers to the assorted societal agreements that are in topographic point to run into the demands of persons and groups in society, with the hope to undertake societal jobs. Harmonizing to Fitzpatrick ( 2001:5 ) societal policy purposes to maximise public assistance and minimise diswelfare and he states that there are six chief positions on public assistance: felicity, security, penchants, demands, desert, and comparative comparings . There are legion texts that exist around the issue of policy formation and its contested relationship with the effects of the policies execution on the public assistance of those it aims to aim. This essay aims to supply an overview of the development of societal policy, statute law and pattern in relation to child public assistance in Irleand. Relation to an Aspect of Irish Policy Hill and Hupe stated that Implemenation necessarily takes different forms and signifiers in different civilizations and institutional scenes ( 2006:2 ) . This subdivision of the essay will analyze some of the relationship between societal policy and kid public assistance in Ireland from the 1940 s up to the present twenty-four hours. Children Allowance and Health Care: Perphaps one of the most signisifcant societal policy developments sing kid public assistance was in debut of Children s Allowance in 1944. However, the initial implemention of the Act included serveral disagreements, therefore it did non profit the public assistance of all the communitiy. For illustration, ab initio the payment was merely availabe to households with three or more kids. Means proving meant that many households were elimanted from the possible societal public assistance they deserved. Simliarly, in 1950, Noel Browne introduced the Mother and Child Scheme. He hoped that this would get the better of many of the elements that infringed the rights of people in respects to the Childrens allowance. However, both the Catholic church and the medical profession opposed he s strategy in fright that province tally and free medical attention would travel against their hierachy. With Browns subsequently surrender, the hope of his strategy being to the full implented collapsed. Bur ke ( 2005:29 ) stated that the contention over the female parent and kid strategy has profound effecs on the developement of societal policy in this state . The power battle between the church and the province most definelty lead to diswelfare among citizens. Compulsory Reporting of Child Abuse: Society has a ambitious undertaking of protecting kids. Societies need to use several ways in which they can accomplish this, for illustration, societal, economic, moral, legal and environmental. In the mid 1990 s, The Law Reform Commission recommended the debut of compulsory coverage of kid maltreatment. The affair of compulsory coverage is one of complexness which has deductions non merely for kids s public assistance but besides households, workers and the province. One of the chief advantages of the implemenation of such a system was the hope that it would authorise proffesionals to describe maltreatment. Above all else it was prodicted that this would procure consistence and would supply a footing for better statistical grounds. However, disadvantages included the danger of over coverage of instances utilizing scarce resources. There was great assortment of options about the compulsory coverage of kid maltreatment. Many argued for an immediate debut of compulsory coverage of kid maltreatment as it was seen as a agency of protecting kids ( ACT Legislative Assembly: neodymium ) and their public assistance. However, others believed it would deviate the already scarce resources from plans that delivered aid to households and at hazard kids. For illustration, Lipsky ( 1980 ) beleived that scarceness of resources leads to street- degree bureaucratisms being systematically criticized for their inability to implement policies which are related to the countries they work in therefore taking to diswelfare in many instances. After much argument, the authorities decided against the debut of compulsory coverage on the footing that it was non in the kids s best involvements and public assistance. The scarceness of resources combined with the complex relationship between proffesionals and clients made it unrealistic. Legislative Framework Regulating the Execution of Childcare Policy: The Children Act of 1908 and the Health Act 1953 and 1957 were replaced by the Child Care Act 1991 and the Children Act 2001 as the primary statutory model for the attention and control of kids in Ireland. Among many commissariats, the chief purpose of the Act harmonizing to O Sullivan ( 2009:251 ) is the placing of a statutory responsibility on wellness boards to advance the public assistance of kids who are non having equal attention and protection . In the period following the passing of the childrens act in 1991, many efforts were made to standardize processs and practises in the country of child care services. For exmaple, the Report of the Killkenny Incest Enquiry in 1993 obviously highlighted that guidelines were non being used and many workers were non even cognizant of there being. However, in 1995, new guidelines on The Presentment of Suspected Cases of Child Abuse Between Healthboards and Gardai were issued and aimed at standardizing the instances between the two burea us. This was a measure frontward for maximizing the public assistance of kids. In 1999, in the Publication of Children First ; National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children were introduced to better proffesional practise and therefore bettering the public assistance of kids. It highlighted the importance of consistence between policies and processs. Unlike guidelines before it, Children First was built upon a set of rules which included engagement by parents/carers and kids in conferences and the development of kid protection programs. These guidelines were valuable as they provided a model for practise, intending that proffessionals are accountable for their actions. In 2002, Buckley made a warning of the dangers of an over regulated system, as she believed it may take to discretion and therapeutical accomplishments being replaced by adminstrative direction and ordinance. In 2003 The Social Services Inspectorate was asked to supervise the execution of the guidelines, nevertheless, while some facet of the study were postivie, it was concluded t hat the advancement in realtion to Garda/health board cooperation, the kid protection commissions and be aftering for household support services was unequal O Sullivan ( 2009:257 ) Confusion environing the execution of this policy still exists. Conculsion: This essay has attempted to summarize and give a critical analysis of certain societal policy in Ireland and their relationship with childrens Welfare. As illustrated in the above illustrations, the in most instances policies may be developed with the hope to profit and increase the public assistance of kids but unless they are implemented right the policies may take to diswelfare.

This rapid advancement has lead to an increased demand for technological development on a nanoscale, which has brought about the birth and improvement of infrastructural changes aimed at representing and observing these features. The world wide focus over this time has been the evolution of methods including SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope), FIB (Focus Ion Beam) etcetera for the detailing of features at the nanoscale. 1.1 History of the Focus Ion Beam (FIB) Technology Focus Ion Beam (FIB) systems have been commercially produced, mostly for manufacturers of large semiconductors for about 20 years [www.fibics.com]. In 1982, Anazawa et al. produced a 35Kv Ga- source and about three years later Orloff and Sudruad proposed FIB system for implantation and lithography [sudruad], even though as of 1959, Feyman had suggested the use of ion beams [www.nanofib.com]. In 1985, Kato et al. have pointed out the advantages of the FIB technology in the fabrication of sub-micro structures. 1.2 Operational Overview The operation of the FIB are same as that of SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), except that the focus ion beam system employs the use of focussed beam ofà ions instead of beam of electrons utilised in the SEM systems[]. Commercialised nanoscience is limited by availability of tools. Using focussed ion beam system allows specified fabrication and imaging abilities which reduces greatly the characterization cycles and development required in the nano-technological field by scientist. The capabilities within focus ion beam ( FIB) are valued highly for rapid prototyping application. The deposition combination / direct etching of FIB in combination with digitally addressed patterning system allows nano prototyping engine with capabilities that will help researches in nano technology , because the operation of FIB is on both micro and nano scale, it can be used in creating the required structures. FIB has prà ©cised control over deposition and milling parameter and as such, it is the proper tool for creating small structures for nano technology in the top ââ¬âdown approach. It is a highly flexible, mask-less technique which is fast for serial techniques, thus allowing the FIB instrument very efficient for design modifications. Most conventional methods of sample preparation used today in life sciences are compatible with investigations by using FIB. 1.3 Using Focus Ion Beam Systems The direct applicability obtained in using FIB instrument is highly relevant in industrial applications. FIB instrument and its application have contributed immensely to industrial researches carried out in several analysis laboratories For instance in the polymer industry, metallurgy industry, nuclear research etcetera. The ability to image, mill and deposit material by using FIB instrument depends largely on the nature of the ion beam- solid interactions. Milling occurs as a result of physical sputtering of the target. In understanding the mechanism of sputtering we need to consider the interaction between an ion beam and the target. Sputtering usually takes place when there is elastic collision in series when momentum is transferred from the incident ions to the target atoms in the region of collision cascade. Ionization of a portion of the ejected atoms can be collected for mass analysis or image formation. Production of plasmons (in metals), phonons and emission of secondary el ectrons can occur as a result of inelastic scattering. Imaging in the focus ion beam is carried out by detecting the secondary ions/electrons typically, sputtering in focus ion beam processes occurs within energy ranges that are dominated by nuclear energy losses. Focus Ion beam devices are used to scan the surfaces of samples using simple focussed ion beams. The detection of secondary ions allows the processed surface of samples and microscopic images to be observed. The ion beam is generated by using liquid metal ion source (LMIS) when a beam of ion is irradiated on the surface of a specimen by finding the secondary ions with a detector a two dimensional distribution which shows the microscopic images of the surface of the specimen can be observed. 1.4 The Focus Ion Beam Instrument The Operation of the FIB technology uses a similar principle as the SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) / TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) but differs in the use of ions and this introduces consequences of enormous magnitude for interaction which occur at the surface of the specimen. Using Focus Ion Beam (FIB) instrument involves two major parameters ââ¬â penetration of ion into material and the rate of sputtering of ion of the material. When the emitted liquid metal ion source (LMIS) primary ion beam hits the surface of the specimen, it splutters a small amount of material this will leave the specimen surface as either neutral atoms or secondary ions ââ¬â Secondary beams are also produced using the primary beam. Signals from the sputtered ion or secondary electron are collected to produce an image as the primary beam raster on the specimen surface. Liquid metal ion source (LMIS) development is crucial for the development of Focus Ion Beam (FIB) [www.dspace.cam.ac.uk] , application of electric field that are very high into a steering quadrupole, octupole deflector, two electrostatic lenses in the columnà to focus ions in a beam and scan the beam on the specimen. Liquid metal ions source (LMIS) generates ions; these ions are focussed on electrostatic lenses. When specimen surfaces are bombarded using ions that have been extracted from the liquid metal ion source (LMIS) this generates ions, secondary electron and sputtered material and the various generated items serve different purpose in the focus ion beam. At high primary currents a large amount of material can be removed by sputtering thus allowing precision milling of the specimen down to the submicron scale, while less material is removed at low primary beam currents. The use of ions in focus ion beam instruments means that they cannot penetrate with ease individual atoms of the specimen because ions are large. So interaction usually occurs within outer shell interaction which causes chemical band breakage of the substrate atom and atomic ionization. Inner shell electrons of the specimen cannot be reached by an incoming ion. The probability of an interaction with atoms that are within the specimen is much higher because of the large ion size and this result in rapid loss of energy of the ion. This means that the depth of penetration is much lower. It should be noted that the main advantage ofà the Focus Ion beam is its ability to produce image of the sample after which it mills the sample precisely away from the areas that are selected[ ]. 1.41 Ions in Operation Ions are slower when paired to electrons for the same energy, because they are much heavier as a result Lorenz force is lower, so the use of magnetic lenses is less effective, and as such the focussed ion beam instrument is equipped with electro static lenses. Ions are positive, slow, large and heavy; so the resulting ion beam will remove atoms from the substrate and because the size, beam position and dwell time are well controlled, it can be used in the removal of materials locally in a manner that is highly controlled down to the nanoscale. As a result of the actions due to the ions used in the Focus ion beam instrument, fabrication and imaging functions are derived. The fabrication function occurs due to the sputtering while the imaging function arises due to the ions and secondary electrons. 1.42 Gallium (Ga+) Ions The gallium ions are used in the focus ion beam (FIB) instruments for the following reasons [fei]; Due to its surface potential it exhibits very high brightness, the tip sharpness, the flow properties of the gun and the gun construction which results in field emission and ionization. This is an important result for the focussed ion beam. It should be noted that whatever chosen material should be ionized before the formation of the beam and then accelerated. The element Gallium is metallic and because of its low melting temperature is a very convenient material for compact gun construction with limited heating. Gallium is the centre of the periodic table and exhibits an optimal momentum transfer capability for a wide range of materials, lithium which is a higher element will not be sufficient in milling of heavier elements. Gallium element has low analytical interference 2.0 Focus Ion Beam System In the figure below, the FEJ 200 series type F113 of the FIB system is represented. In the figure are the various components of the system which includes the column, the specimen chamber and the detector; 2.1à à The Column This is situated above the specimen chambers. It is made up ofà two electrostatic lenses, a set of beam blanking plates, liquid metal ion source (LMIS), a beam acceptance aperture, steering quadrupole, beam defining aperture and an octupole deflector. 2.2 Lens System Coming from the source, the beam goes through a beam acceptance aperture after which it goes into the first lens. Above the beam- defining aperture (BDA), the quadrapole adjust the position of the beam in a manner as to allow the beam move through the center of the beam-defining aperture (BDA). The beam is aligned to the optical axis of the second lensââ¬â¢ quadrapole. Beam astigmatism correction, shift and scanning is provided by the octupole which is positioned below the second lens. Between the second lens assembly and the second lenses steering quadrapole we have the beam blanking assembly. This is made up of aperture and electrical path and blanking plates. Beam blanking provides specimens with protections against constant milling. 2.3 Generation of Image The primary beam is scanned as a raster across the specimen and it is made up of lines in vertical axis (shifted slightly from one another) and lies in the horizontal (in series). With scanning of the beam over the specimen the secondary ions and the secondary electrons that are generated by the specimen are detected. Details of this information are stored in the computer and images are produced from these information. 2.4 Detector, Stage and Gas Injection Control of rotation and X and Y axis is performed by software and it can be tilted to the XY plane manually. Gases of two types are evolved above the surface of the specimen at about 100à µm of distance. One of these gases is used for platinum deposition and the other for enhanced etch. During bombardment of ion in milling, species that are charged are formed and they are attracted to the detector. A glass of millions of arrays of minute channel electron multiplier is the detector; it is a micro channel plate (MCP). 2.5à Liquid Metal Ion Source (LMIS) LMIS is made of a needle emitter which has an end radius of 1 10à µm. It is coated with high surface tension metal which at its melting point has a low vapour pressure. This emitter is subjected to heating till the melting point of the metal is attained. A positive high voltage is placed on it. Using the balance between the surface tension forces and the electrostatic the liquid metal is drawn into a conical shape. The source that is commonly used is Gallium [dspace.mit.edu]. 2.5à Milling By using the scan control system, polygons, circles and lines can be milled. The table below represents the different beam currents and their corresponding milling spot sizes. The figure below gives us the pixel size and milling spot size and the beam overlap.à The overlap can be expressed as the overlapped area where the beam moves from a position to the other. And the time where the beam remains in a position is known as the dwell time. à 2.7 Sample Preparation The three main strategies used in the focus ion beam sample preparation of specimen that will be inspected using TEM are: Ex situ lift-out (EXLO) preparation (Centre Image), H-Bar sample preparation (Left image) and In Situ lift-out (INLO) preparation (Right image) [info.omniprobe.com/blog/bid] 2.8 Imaging When ion beam is scanned on the surface of the specimen, it causes ions and electrons to be ejected. After scanning through the surface of the specimen the primary Gallium ion penetrate into the surface of the specimen. The depth of the penetration varies from one material to the other. The secondary electron yield is much higher than secondary ion yield during ion milling and thus is the reason why focus ion beam is usually used in the secondary electron mode. Secondary ions and secondary electrons are obtained within regions that are closer the surface of the specimen. 3.0à Conclusion In their work on the future of focus ion beam, the ORSAYPHYSICS group has shown that field of focus ion beam is open to expansion. Their projections with regards the extent to which focus ion beam can be deployed is shown in the figure below: Fig.à à à Current and Future FIB Technologies Source: felmi-zfe.tugraz.at/FIB/WS3_Beitraege/01%20Sudraud.pdf The use of FIB has been developed extensively over the years in applications like super conductor, field emission device, accelerometer etcetera. Armed with imaging capability of high resolution as its recently upgraded technologies, the focus ion beam (FIB) instrument is indeed technology that is providing solutions to problems that has been previously unresolved. This heralds the focus ion beam (FIB) instrument as an important device for the future in the nano science, technology and engineering environment.

10+ Tools and Resources to Write the Perfect Resume
10+ Tools and Resources to Write the Perfect Resume 10+ Tools and Resources to Write the Perfect Resume 10+ Tools and Resources to Write the Perfect Resume By Ali Hale If you read my post of resume tips a few weeks ago, youââ¬â¢ll already be familiar with best practice for writing a great resume. While thereââ¬â¢s nothing wrong with hand-crafting your resume in Microsoft Word (or your word processor of choice), there are plenty of online tools that can save you lots of time by formatting your resume in seconds. Plus, if youââ¬â¢re still struggling with exactly what to put on your resume in the first place ââ¬â thereââ¬â¢s lots of great advice out there. Before we get into the list of great tools and resources, there are a couple of crucial things to keep in mind: Whatever tools you use, employers will expect a resume that conforms to a standard format. There are some nifty tools out there that let you create a resume that looks like, say, an infographic: unless youââ¬â¢re very certain thatââ¬â¢ll go down well with your potential employer, stick to something a little more conventional. Tools can be hugely helpful but they can only do so much. If there are major issues with your resume (like a huge unexplained gap in your work history, or a total mismatch between your listed skills and what an employer wants), youââ¬â¢ll want to fix those problems before trying to format your resume beautifully. With those caveats out of the way, hereââ¬â¢s the list: Online Advice and Support on Creating Your Resume #1: ââ¬Å"Resumeâ⬠Category (free), Ask a Manager I love the blog ââ¬Å"Ask a Managerâ⬠by Allison Green (though be warned, itââ¬â¢s an easy place to spend a little too much time reading about other peopleââ¬â¢s weirdly dysfunctional workplaces). Thereââ¬â¢s a whole category of advice about ââ¬Å"Resumesâ⬠, which is well worth a read. (Allison Green is a manager whoââ¬â¢s been extensively involved in hiring and really knows her stuff. You can submit your own questions to her, if you have a resume query that hasnââ¬â¢t already been covered on the blog.) #2: Resume Samples (free), Resume Genius If youââ¬â¢re writing a resume for the first time ââ¬â or after a long time away from employment ââ¬â then you might feel quite unclear on how a resume should even look. Going through some resume samples can be really helpful, because it gives you a good feel for what potential employers will expect. There are plenty of sites out there offering sample resumes, but Resume Genius is a particularly easy-to-use one, with samples categorised by industry, and with related samples like cover letters, plus additional tips. You can click to download a sample as a Microsoft Word document without having to sign up or put in your email address. Tip: Donââ¬â¢t assume that the wording or layout of a sample is perfect (or that itââ¬â¢s perfect for the role you have in mind): it wonââ¬â¢t necessarily be appropriate to copy a particular phrase that a sample resume or cover letter uses, for instance. In any case, you should be very careful about using wording from any sample unless itââ¬â¢s something very standard (like ââ¬Å"I am interested in applyingâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Thank you for your considerationâ⬠), unless you have express permission ââ¬â otherwise, copying the sample is plagiarism. #3: CV Tips: this is what a recruiter can see after 30 seconds with your resume (free), The Independent This is a single article, but one I wanted to link to because it provides a very honest and valuable perspective from the other side of the fence. Itââ¬â¢s easy to end up agonising over things on your resume that donââ¬â¢t really matter ââ¬â or giving too much importance to areas that employers simply arenââ¬â¢t that interested in (like your educational history). Tip: Although published by a UK newspaper, the author of the piece (Ambra Benjamin) is American, so the advice here applies fairly well on either side of the Atlantic. #4: 43 Resume Tips That Will Help You Get Hired (free), The Muse This is another single article, but one thatââ¬â¢s packed with practical tips and lots of links to further information, from the big picture (focusing on recent, relevant jobs) to the little details (avoiding using the same words repeatedly). Note that the article is aimed at US readers, so if youââ¬â¢re in a different country, you may find that some of the advice doesnââ¬â¢t necessarily apply ââ¬â and even if you are in the US, donââ¬â¢t feel that you have to follow every single point slavishly. Give this a skim-read when youââ¬â¢re first putting together your resume; you can then go through it point by point as you edit and polish your resume, following the links to further information if thereââ¬â¢s a particular area where you need extra help or want more details. Tip: Thereââ¬â¢s some particularly good advice towards the end of the article about saving and sending your resume ââ¬â do make sure that it displays correctly once emailed (you can send it to yourself and check it on another computer), and make sure you include your name in the file name, not just ââ¬Å"Resumeâ⬠or ââ¬Å"CVâ⬠. #5: 103 Resume Writing Tips, Resume Genius This piece, like the one from The Muse, collects together lots of practical tips ââ¬â with links to further help when needed. Itââ¬â¢s a little different, though, in that itââ¬â¢s a collection of common mistakes ââ¬â things that the team at Rescue Genius see on a daily basis when reviewing peopleââ¬â¢s resumes (like ââ¬Å"forgot to use action verbsâ⬠or, worryingly, ââ¬Å"misspelled own nameâ⬠). Some of the mistakes might seem like obvious ones to avoid, but others are ones you might never have thought about before ââ¬â like ââ¬Å"weak bullet points displayed before strong onesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"not bringing multiple copies of it to interviewâ⬠. Tip: The article is US-focused, but a lot of these tips will apply wherever you are in the world. à There might be cases where standard practice in your own country is different, though ââ¬â so do seek local advice as well, and ignore the tips/mistakes that donââ¬â¢t apply to you. Tools to Create Your Resume #6: Canva Resume Builder (free) Canva offers a wide range of design tools and resources, and it has a great resume building tool. You start by writing your name and then you will be able to pick the style you are looking for. For example, you can go with corporate style, acting resume, high school, creative professional and so on. The next step is to pick the templates you like from a list of available ones. Finally, you will be able to input your resume information and to edit any design aspects you want. Overall the process is very simple and will produce a professional looking resume in a very short time. #7: Google Docs templates (free), various creators If you want a straightforward way to create a resume, why not use Google Docsââ¬â¢s templates? Click on the link above to go straight to the ââ¬Å"Template galleryâ⬠, then click ââ¬Å"Generalâ⬠to view them. You should see a whole series of different templates: scroll down to get to the resumes. Click your chosen template to load it up, then simply fill in the details. Keep in mind that once youââ¬â¢ve chosen a template to edit, you canââ¬â¢t switch your text to a different template ââ¬â so you might want to try a few before you settle on one. Tip: Most of the resume templates have a corresponding ââ¬Å"letterâ⬠template that uses the same colours and fonts. You might want to use this for your cover letter (if youââ¬â¢re not simply including the cover letter in the body of an email). #7: Kickresume (free/paid), Kickresume SRO Kickresume is a free and straightforward site that lets you create a standard resume, providing templates for both resumes and cover letters (plus websites). Itââ¬â¢s simple to use, though you will need to create an account (or you can login via Google, Facebook or LinkedIn). To save time, you can import your LinkedIn profile, by downloading a .zip file from LinkedIn and uploading it to Kickresume ââ¬â full instructions are provided. You can change the template youââ¬â¢re using at any time, without losing any of the text youââ¬â¢ve uploaded or inputted. There are only three basic, free templates though ââ¬â if you want to use the ââ¬Å"proâ⬠options, youââ¬â¢ll need to upgrade to the paid plan ($15/month or $48/year). Tip: Some of the resume templates include space to put a photograph of yourself. This isnââ¬â¢t standard practice in the US or UK for resumes, so if youââ¬â¢re in those countries, you may want to choose a template that only has text content. #9: Enhancv (paid, has free trial) Enhancv is a complete platform for those looking to create a modern and effective resume. After signing up you will be prompted to choose one of the many existing templates. you will then be able to edit all the sections with your personal information and experience. One interesting feature the platform offers are the automated suggestions to improve the wording of specific parts of your resume. This is a paid product, but it comes with a free 7-day trial. On top of that the website offers a wide range of resources and articles you can use to improve your resume without paying anything. #10: CV Maker (free, paid), CV Maker CV maker offers several basic templates for creating a resume. You fill in your information in a form, and you can then switch between different templates if you want to. While itââ¬â¢s possible to create your resume without logging in, youââ¬â¢ll need to create an account if you want to save your CV and edit it in the future. Itââ¬â¢s free to create an account, and youââ¬â¢ll get full access to the basic templates and to the save/download features. The premium level (which gives you lots of advanced options) only costs $16/year, too ââ¬â so you might decide itââ¬â¢s worth upgrading. Tip: CV Makerââ¬â¢s site is available in a wide range of different languages: if English isnââ¬â¢t your native language, you can easily change this from the drop-down menu at the top of the site or the list in the footer. #11: Standard Resume (free, paid), Minimum Works Standard Resume has a very straightforward LinkedIn import ââ¬â you can bring in all your information from LinkedIn, then edit or add anything you need to. As with Kickresume and CV Maker, the basic templates are free; you can pay for a premium account ($5/month or $20/year) to tailor your resume further. Unlike some other sites, Standard Resume keeps the templates simple and straightforward: you wonââ¬â¢t find profile photos or odd infographic elements here. If youââ¬â¢re applying to a fairly traditional industry, or if you just want to keep things as simple as possible, that could make Standard Resume a great option for you. Tip: The pro level also lets you see when your resumes have been viewed and/or downloaded, which you might find useful. #12: Slick Write (free), RussTek LLC In Top 10 Online Tools to Help You Write the Perfect Essay, I covered the popular spelling and grammar checking tools Grammarly and Hemingway. Slick Write is similar: you can paste in a passage of writing (or use a Chrome or Firefox extension) and it will automatically flag up potential problems. You could use it on your cover letter or any emails you need to send, as well as on your resume. While I donââ¬â¢t think any tool can replace careful proofreading ââ¬â and ideally, a second pair of eyes on your resume ââ¬â Slick Write can help you to edit your work. Itââ¬â¢s completely free, so well worth a try. (It is, however, funded by ads, which you may find slightly intrusive or annoying.) Tip: As with any grammar checker, donââ¬â¢t feel that you have to follow every single recommendation. You might decide that your phrasing is fine as it is! Whatever tools you use to help, writing a resume can be tough. You need to convey, clearly and concisely, exactly why youââ¬â¢ll be a good fit for a particular role ââ¬â in a standard format that supplies potential employers with all the information theyââ¬â¢ll expect. Statement Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3250 words
Statement - Essay Example I will attempt to prove all this today and over the following nine days, but first I would like to tell you some more about who the victim in this case really is. Ms. Chen joined the staff at Monash University as a teacher and research academic in May of 2008. Before that time Ms. Chen had worked at the Imperial College in London and also at the University of Cambridge. She had gained two PhDs; one from Imperial College in 2007 for Biomaterials and the other from the University of Science and Technology of Beijing in 1992 for Metallurgical Physics. Professor Sian Harding from the Imperial College of London made the comment that "Qizhi (Ms. Chens nickname) is an exceptionally bright and creative scientist." In terms of her teaching capabilities, Professor Alexander Bismarck, also from Imperial College, remarked that Qizhi is "a gifted teacher." To put it simply, Ms. Chen is an independent thinker, hard-working academic and strong-minded woman who has carved out a fine academic career for herself. In contrast to many female academics who choose to put their career above a family, Ms. Chen is a very typical conservative Chinese woman with a strong family life. She also has a 12-year-old son, who is the apple of her eye. In conjunction with pursuing her academic goals and objectives, Ms. Chen is of the belief that being a mother with a caring family around her is considered to be the greatest achievement a woman can make. In line with her cultural values, Ms. Chen possesses the traits of loyalty, decency, and honesty. Also, Ms. Chen balances her work life and personal life in a way that allows her to have healthy relationships with everyone who she comes across. She is a woman who is quick to forgive and only make judgements based on facts rather than conjecture. In the workplace, Ms. Chen prefers an inclusive approach whereby knowledge can be shared for the benefit of

External Environment of Business Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words
External Environment of Business - Essay Example As the paper stresses many non governmental organizations that include many trade organizations and multi lateral forums, have recognized the need for a comprehensive vision on globalization. This has happened in other forums also that could represent the people of the world. World Trade Organization has its own view of the Globalization. While the other experts and researchers have their very own thought process on the issue of global village and globalization. According to the report findings World Trade Organization promotes global trade; ethical global trade. With the increasing technological and political closeness of the countries the national boundaries are merging to produce one single working economy. The fall of the Berlin wall brought about an integration of Germany, as much as the Euro that brought about unified trading partnership between the European Countries. WTO heralds the coming together of all these practices that would include sub groups like the G8, BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China), and a number of multilateral forum primarily to work out consensus on the issues that plague the global trade. WTO works on the global trade sine globalization is more pronounced and felt in trade than on any other walks of life, let it be culture or sports exchanges. By bringing together a standard practice of trading code, the WTO aims at presenting a comprehensive Globalization that would bring in equality of all participants and fairn ess of trade for all stake holders of the planet. Globalization brings in multiple dimensions to the stake holders in terms of unfair dumping of products in specific areas, free market economies on one end and controlled or regulated markets at the other. Either of them cause problems to specific groups of people and could kill the lives of millions of people like what it did to the textile industry of India during the eighteenth century when Britain dumped its goods there. WTO wants to ensure that global trade that is at the heart of globalization to be free and fair to all concerned. Laissez faire is what WTO wants to promote. Free movement of goods and services across the boundaries of nations brought in through common governance. The economic globalization is the engine that is driving the process of globalization and the organizations like WTO. WTO wants to ensure that all the parties should be fairly treated and a long term vision of the planet is maintained. This is needed since for the current day gain, it is very often found that the long term vision is lost in many nations. In Indonesia, the smoke that masks the sun during summer has become a common place incident. The world has started ignoring the happening three years after the first time it occurred. Indiscriminate cutting of forests and land clearing are the major cause for the happening. WTO aims at bringing in wood control by ensuring that for every tree that is cut at one end of the forest there is another tree planted elsewhere and the cycle of cutting and planting should be continuous and not destructive. It is not a question of moving over to the next forest but rebuilding and harvesting the same forest area. Social forestry has become the watch word of many a forest departments the
